I thought I would have more information to report regarding Grumbacher's Beg. Acrylic and Watercolor classes, however, I couldn't download the 2019 Guidebook to read. It is being sent to me through "snail mail" which I should have something to report end of this week. I do know that I can order Grumbacher's art supplies through Chartpak's website and get students' supplies at a discount if Michael's does not carry what we will use to paint with. I love their paints so I'm excited about that!!!
Shirley's Beneath the Surface - Mixed Media
Since Michael's dropped all adult classes effective April 7, last week I received Grumbacher's new guidelines for "Grumbacher Certified Teachers" where we can still teach beginning acrylic/watercolor classes with Grumbacher's lesson plans and access to their art supplies and website. One option would be for me to be "self-employed" and I work out of my studio. I am already teaching Intermediate/Advanced classes so adding some Beginning Grumbacher classes would be fun and enriching. This week I will be reviewing in more detail the Grumbacher's guidelines, and will have more information to report to you on class structure and cost. And by the way, please check out Kevin Tracy Wealth Management Sequim office to see my students artwork on display. It is located at 149 West Washington Street, 6-7 doors west of the Blue Whole Gallery and next to the Sunshine Gallery. The works will be on display until Wednesday, April 24.
And then from April 25 through May, Watercolors by NOW (North Olympic Watercolorists) will be showcasing their art in Kevin's office in Sequim. We are very excited as we get to participate in the First Friday of the Month Artwalk which is scheduled for Friday, May 3 from 5-8pm. Here's a chance to see incredible watercolors and meet the artists.

SEQUIM ARTWALK, FRIDAY APRIL 5, was amazing. Kevin was pretty sure we had more visitors that night compared to last month!!! The rain gods took pity on us and gave us gorgeous weather--we were out there on the sidewalk with our sandwich boards and neon glow worms to attract people!!! It was sooooo much fun and we had repeat visitors who wanted to see what was new on the walls. Thank you, everyone, for making our evening a success.

It was held at Kevin Tracy's Wealth Management Office which is at 149 West Washington Street, Sequim; and we will have our art on display from March through April. Thank you to everybody who stopped by--we heard so many wonderful comments!!! We will have some new artwork to show at the upcoming April Artwalk.
Landscape - Acrylic - Class 2/12/2019, 2PM-4PM
Well, got word from Michael's Corporate Office that all adult class in their stores are being discontinued effective April 7. I could work as an Independent Contractor if I still wanted to teach there, but all promotions on my classes are on me plus I pay a commission based on the number of students who attend. To make it easier on me, I have decided not to teach there, and will continue my private lessons in my studio. A Grumbacher representative notified me that something is in the works for its teachers--as soon as I get the details, I will forward them on.

We have been pounded with snow the last two weeks, and most of us have just had our roads and driveways plowed. My Grumbacher class on February 12 was canceled due to the weather conditions. Demo day is still scheduled on the 23rd, and my first landscape class, the 26th. Really excited to teach again!!!

I haven't updated this page in ions, but I now have three students--Susan, Eva, and Jerri.
***
Susan started last year and she had no experience in painting, she never held a paint brush before. She has painted everything I have given her and has listened to everything I have said. Her growth has been amazing. Her projects--the three giraffes, and the native man with steely eyes won 1st place at the Jefferson County Fair. She is now learning how to paint with watercolors. Kudos, Susan, for a job well done!!!
***
Eva is my neighbor who is so talented--she loves to garden, is a great cook, and she loves to laugh. She loves to paint and is another fast learner--she painted of a seahorse and did a collage of sailboats. She won Best of Show/1st Place and an Honorable Mention at the Cllalam County Fair. She has two ongoing projects--the Palace of Fine Arts and the other one is The Day of the Dead. Kudos, Eva, for a job well done!!!

Jerri has been coming to me for about 6 months. She is an awesome realistic painter who paints oils and is learning how to work with acrylics. She is detailed oriented, and I am pushing her to go outside her comfort zone. She initially painted on 9X12 canvases and now she is working on a 16X20 aquaboard using a pallet knife, encouraging her to take the colors in the background and add them to the foreground so the viewer's eyes will move around the painting; and finally encourage her to lighten up colors so that the subject matter will "pop." My goal is to have her start entering her works in exhibits. Kudos, Jerri, for a job well done!!!

Roger latest completed piece
Roger took watercolor lessons, and he is now painting on his own and continually grows with each painting he completes. He comes from a background in engineering which involves control and precision, and his working with watercolors has been a big adjustment, but he now lets the watercolors work on their own. I'm so proud of the progress he's making.

I had two students today--Evelyn, grandmother, and Savannah, eight-year-old grand-daughter. Neither has worked with acrylics before, but they did a wonderful job. Hope they continue painting--they definitely have talent.
